Natalie Kaplan

Natalie J. Kaplan is a Fellow and Founding Member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She has devoted her practice to the legal problems of the older adult for over thirty years. She was the Founding Editor of the monthly NAELA News and for many years author and editor of a column on New York legal developments.

She was Staff Counsel to the New York State Temporary Commission of Investigation the first Adjunct Professor of Elder Law at New York Law School.

In connection with her interest in the patients’ rights at end of life, she has served on the Bioethics Committees of Phelps Memorial Hospital, Jonson Hospital and Sound Shore Medical Center. As an extension of that interest, she has developed and presents a workshop to help crystallize end-of-life wishes.

She has appeared as a guest on “Court TV” and has lectured and published nationally, as well as for the New York State, City, County and other Bar Associations and the Archdiocese of New York City and Trenton, New Jersey.

Natalie is currently engaged in private practice in New York City and Westchester County. In 2000, she founded an in-house legal services business for the home-bound, “Elder Law on Wheels.®”.

When she is not in her office or “on Wheels” she spends time with her daughter, Gillian, her husband, Marty, and her Golden Retriever, Sonella. She also indulges an eye for photography, creates “found” art, reads, paints and exercises at her local gym.
